The countdown has officially begun. With survival instructor training just around the corner, my husband decided it was time to put his new gear and his skills to the test. This weekend wasn’t just about camping. It was about preparing for the wild, embracing the elements, and taking one step closer to the dream that inspires it all: Familys Arctic Getaway in the breathtaking wilderness of Norway.
As the sun dipped behind the trees, he set up his brand-new tent — a future home away from home on rugged terrain. The sleeping mat and sleeping bag were tested against the chill of the evening, because when you’re out in nature, comfort is a tool, not a luxury. A fire was sparked to life, crackling in the stillness of the forest. On the menu: golden potatoes and smoky bacon, the kind of meal that somehow tastes even better under the open sky.
With each task, the forest became more than a training ground; it became a classroom. A smaller tree was carefully felled, turning into both fuel and a lesson in respect for nature. A handful of fresh spruce needles were steeped in boiling water, transforming into a fragrant forest tea — warm, earthy, and surprisingly refreshing.

He practiced tying sturdy knots, gathered firewood, and refined the essential skills that make a difference when the wild becomes your playground. Every knot, every spark, every breath of cold air brought us closer to our vision of what Familys Arctic Getaway stands for:
🌲 Adventure — Real experiences for families who love to explore.
🔥 Connection — With nature, with each other, and with the moment.
❄️ Freedom — To live simply, breathe deeply, and feel alive.
This weekend was just the beginning. Soon, these skills will shape unforgettable journeys nights under Arctic stars, meals cooked over open flames, and the kind of memories that families carry for a lifetime.
Because the best adventures aren’t just about surviving in nature. They’re about belonging to it.
